practice makes perfect

You’re so modest. But life’s achievements are hard to measure by our mortal means.

Be patient, it will all become clear in the end when there are no more second chances. If the food was great, you should have no regrets. I had dinner with P. last night, the person, not the cat. My expectations were crushed, but aren’t they always. Damn that Kenderis.

Haven’t we already discussed the virtues of Japanese literature? Don’t you know that my absolute favorite writer is Haruki Murakami? I loved his character named Creta Kano in “The Wind-up Bird Chronicle” (her sister was named Malta Kano) and “Sputnik Sweetheart” also takes place, in part, in Greece. Everything is relevant, except what is not. “A Personal Matter” by Kenzaburo Oe is devastating and beautiful too. I recommend both writers without hesitation. Murakami also wrote a fascinating book, non-fiction, about the Tokyo subway gas attacks. He’s got stories in the New Yorker all the time. If I weren’t in love with you, I’d fall in love with him.

But thanks for saying that you hate me. Absence is supposed to make the heart grow fonder, you know. You don’t know.
